About Kara
I’m so happy you’re here!
HI’m Kara — a registered dietitian, wife, and mom of two. My approach to nutrition is rooted in whole-person care, recognizing that our relationships with food, health, and our bodies are deeply personal and shaped by every season of life.
My work as a dietitian began in Portland, Oregon, where I worked at an eating disorder treatment facility across IOP, PHP, and later residential care. While eating disorders are a specialty in themselves, they are often intertwined with other health concerns — from gastrointestinal issues and thyroid disorders to food allergies — giving me a strong clinical foundation early in my career.
It was during this season that much of my practice philosophy took shape. I realized that behind struggles with food, however they manifest, is a complex human being. It’s rarely as simple or straightforward. Food is inherently emotional, and I don’t believe that’s a bad thing.
When I learned I was pregnant with my first son, my husband and I decided to move closer to family, and I transitioned into private practice. Since then, my practice has ebbed and flowed through the ever-changing seasons of raising young children at home. While my interests and specialties have expanded over the years, what has remained constant is my desire to provide whole-person care that goes far beyond meal plans alone.

My Philosophy & Style
Relational
This work is intimate. While not therapy, we do talk about more than just food. Having your trust is something I don’t take for granted.
Balanced
I know, I know. It may be the most overused word in health right now, but I mean it. No extremes here.
Individualized
There is no one size fits all when it comes to health. Your unique circumstances, genetics, and lifestyle required individualized care.
